What’s On at Chorley Theatre: Autumn & Winter Highlights
Chorley Theatre, also known locally as Chorley Little Theatre, is one of the town’s best-loved cultural venues. Tucked away on Dole Lane, it has been entertaining local audiences since 1910 and today it remains a vibrant community hub run entirely by volunteers. From gripping plays and laugh-out-loud comedy nights to music, musicals and special cinema screenings, there’s always something worth seeing.
Drama and Local Productions
This autumn the spotlight falls on The Knicker Spy, a fascinating true story that blends intrigue and wartime drama. Performed by CADOS, Chorley’s own amateur dramatic society, the production runs from 13–18 October 2025 with nightly shows at 7:30pm. Later in the year, the ever-popular CADOS pantomime returns with Snow White, bringing festive magic to the stage throughout December with matinee and evening performances that families won’t want to miss.
Comedy Nights in Chorley
Chorley Theatre has a fantastic line-up of stand-up comedy still to come this season. On Saturday 25 October, Manford’s Comedy Club returns with a fresh bill of comedians hand-picked by Jason Manford’s team, promising a night full of laughs and surprises. Later in the year, Emmanuel Sonubi: Life After Near Death takes to the stage on Wednesday 12 November. Sonubi transforms his own near-fatal experience with heart failure into a darkly funny, thought-provoking show that has earned rave reviews. Comedy fans can also look forward to appearances from well-known names including Stephen Bailey on 1 November and Marcus Brigstocke on 7 November, both bringing their trademark wit and energy to Chorley. Whether you’re after observational humour, sharp one-liners or personal storytelling, the theatre’s comedy programme is packed with variety and makes Chorley a great place for a night of laughter.
Musical Theatre and Live Music
If music is more your style, Chorley Theatre has plenty lined up. On Saturday 11 October, The Totally Improvised Musical offers a unique experience where the entire show is created on the spot from audience suggestions. Every performance is different, making it a must-see for those who enjoy something spontaneous and fun. The festive season brings two crowd-pleasing events: Christmas with The Beatles Complete on 27 December, offering a Beatlemania twist on seasonal classics, followed the next day by the return of The Houghton Weavers. Known for their mix of folk music, humour and audience participation, the band has built a loyal following in Chorley, making this a perfect way to round off the year.
Live Screenings & Big-Screen Theatre

A highlight coming soon is NT Live: Mrs Warren’s Profession, showing twice on 26th & 28th October featuring Imelda Staunton and Bessie Carter. Later in the year, keep your eyes on NT Live: The Fifth Step, scheduled for Sunday 30 November This gripping modern play by David Ireland is a powerful piece examining responsibility and consequences in contemporary life.
Looking ahead to 2026, the theatre will screen NT Live: Hamlet on Sunday 25 January, starring Hiran Abeysekera in a bold new take on Shakespeare’s classic. In addition to classic plays on screen, the Empire Cinema series rounds out the season’s offerings with cinematic events. For example, Elf will be screened on Monday 22 December — a festive favourite for families.
